Job summary

Clean Harbors is seeking a Compliance Specialist Intern to join our safety-focused team at the Deer Park Incinerator. This in-person Summer 2027 internship supports the Compliance Manager with regulatory compliance tasks and permit reviews. May 17th or May 24th start dates and runs through August.

Interns work alongside experienced professionals, gaining exposure to environmental, energy, and industrial services while developing practical skills for early careers. No remote work.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Environmental Science or Management bachelor’s program.
• Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) laws/regulations.
• Analytical mind; ability to identify audiences, messages, and goals.
• Advanced Excel skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Compliance Manager with reports and on-site inspections in compliance with EPA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.
• Archive old files as directed by the Compliance Manager.
• Review facility permits to understand permit conditions/limitations.
• Stay current on regulatory changes via Q&A summaries.
• Maintain environmental compliance files.
• Notify Compliance Manager of incidents/accidents.
