Job summary

Clean Harbors Deer Park Incinerator is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our safety-focused team for a Summer 2027 program in Deer Park, TX. This in-person internship provides hands-on experience while supporting real projects across our environmental, energy, and industrial services operations.

Starting May 17 or May 24, 2027, the internship runs through August. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learn about corrosion monitoring, mechanical integrity, and Process

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering pursued during internship.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in CAD or similar software for drawings.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other tools.
• Knowledge of P&IDs and piping ISOs preferred.
• Lifting up to 50 lbs and ability to work at heights in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority and follow safe work practices.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining the Mechanical Integrity Program.
• Learn corrosion mechanisms and participate in monitoring and mitigation.
• Gain exposure to PSM principles including PHA, MOC, OPS, and investigations.
• T ake initiative and demonstrate a proactive learning and problem-solving approach.
• Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards, including PSM pillars.

Clean Harbors Deer Park Incinerator is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our safety-focused team. This internship provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while supporting real projects that contribute to business priorities across our environmental, energy, and industrial services operations. We are searching for a reliable and team-oriented individual with an excellent commitment to safety to join our growing team during Summer 2027!

This internship is an in-person opportunity based at our Deer Park, TX Incinerator and is not eligible for remote work. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, gain exposure to our industry, and develop practical skills that support their academic and early career goals.

Start dates for our Summer 2027 Internship Program are May 17th or May 24th of 2027. Internships will run through the summer and end in August.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Mechanical Integrity Program;
• Learn about corrosion mechanisms and participate in corrosion monitoring and mitigation activities
• Gain exposure to Process Safety Management (PSM) principles, including the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) process, Management of Change (MOCs), Operating Procedures, Incident Investigation, and other elements of PSM
• Take initiative and demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including the pillars of Process Safety Management (PSM)

What does it take to intern with Clean Harbors?

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at an accredited college or university;
• Strong interest in learning about the environmental services industry;
• Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment;
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or other relevant technical tools;
• Proficiency in CAD or similar software for updating and modifying engineering drawings;
• Knowledge of P&IDs and piping ISOs preferred;
• Lift to 50lbs, climb ladders, stoop, bend, stand for prolonged periods, exposed to various weather conditions and work at heights.
