Job summary

Clean Harbors Deer Park Incinerator is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join a safety-focused team for Summer 2027. This in-person internship at the Deer Park, TX Incinerator provides hands-on experience supporting projects across environmental, energy, and industrial services.

Start dates are May 17th or May 24th, 2027, with internships running through August. The role emphasizes safety, collaboration, and exposure to corrosion monitoring, PSM concepts, and engineering drawings using CAD

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at an accredited college or university.
• Strong interest in learning about the environmental services industry.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or other relevant technical tools.
• Proficiency in CAD or similar software for updating and modifying engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of P&IDs and piping ISOs preferred.
• Lift to 50lbs, climb ladders, stoop, bend, stand for prolonged periods, exposed to various weather conditions and work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Mechanical Integrity Program.
• Learn about corrosion mechanisms and participate in corrosion monitoring and mitigation activities
• Gain exposure to Process Safety Management (PSM) principles, including the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) process, Management of Change (MOCs), Operating Procedures, Incident Investigation, and other elements of PSM
• Take initiative and demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including the pillars of Process Safety Management (PSM)
