Job summary

Aqua is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to support water and wastewater regulatory programs. You will collect data, perform compliance reviews, and document test results to ensure adherence with environmental requirements.

Responsibilities include coordinating sampling plans, preparing permit applications, and reporting data while collaborating with engineers and operators to address non-compliance issues and regulatory updates.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 5%.
• Understanding of environmental regulations and compliance concepts.
• 2+ years of relevant experience; water utilities experience a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of data management and lab data handling software (e.g., SAMS).
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee Aqua’s environmental programs including sampling, pretreatment, and grease control; prepare sampling plans and budgets.
• Schedule sampling for water and wastewater systems; assist operators and managers with sampling issues.
• Organize and track compliance data for reports; analyze data and summarize findings for leadership.
• Record and monitor test results in databases/spreadsheets; document activities for regulatory standards.
• Identify gaps in documentation and recommend solutions; submit paperwork for reduced monitoring where applicable.
• Review inspection reports and regulatory correspondence; collaborate with engineers and management on responses.
• Assist operations with regulatory inspections and respond to agency communications.
• Provide regulatory updates and prepare comments on new regulations; train facility operators.
