Job summary

Aqua PA is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support the Water Quality & Environmental Compliance group. The role involves identifying pollution sources, conducting field surveys, and preparing compliance reports to protect water resources within Aqua PA’s service areas.

The position requires scientific education, field work, and collaboration with Engineering and Leadership to ensure regulatory adherence and timely documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a science discipline (Environment Science, Biology, Chemistry, Hydrology), or an Associate's with 2+ years' experience.
• 2+ years in environmental, water, and/or wastewater roles for the Associate path.

Responsibilities

• Identify and photograph potential pollution sources in watersheds or near groundwater supplies.
• Monitor watershed health and seek pollution sources while mitigating pollution.
• Prepare regulatory compliance reports and maintain maps and records.
• Conduct field interviews and educate residents on waterways and wells.
• Take groundwater level and streamflow measurements; collect samples for labs.
• Review inspection reports and draft response letters with Engineering and Leadership.
• Attend compliance and planning meetings; assist with budgeting for upgrades.
