Responsibilities

  • Meet with the executive director weekly and the communications manager as needed.
  • Create new website content using WordPress or Squarespace (not required to be proficient in both).
  • Interview program staff to generate social media content, website content, and press releases.
  • Data analysis to measure outreach impact; generate and follow metrics.
  • Establish, support, and execute a members webinar series on Zoom.

About Turtle Island Restoration Network’s SPAWN

The Salmon Protection And Watershed Network (SPAWN) was initiated as part of Turtle Island Restoration Network in 1997. Each year, we engage hundreds of people to see and learn about critically endangered salmon, restore watershed habitat, raise native redwood trees, and study salmon health. www.seaturtles.org/spawn.

TIRN is seeking an intern for July 15 through 12/31/2026

TIRN is seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and creative person to assist and learn from our communications manager and executive director. The communications intern will generate social media and press release content, schedule, support, and conduct online webinars, and streamline communications best practices. This position is ideal for those looking to gain hands‑on experience in the communications discipline related to environmental protection and environmental justice.

The position can be based in Olema, California, and free intern housing is available. This position can also be remote for qualified candidates. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and this position will be open until filled.

Time commitment:

  • July 15 thru year end 2026 30 hours a week minimum
  • $100.00 / month stipend.
  • Possibility of intern housing if you can be in the West Marin, California, area
  • Academic Credit Available.

Qualifications and skills desired:

  • Ability to use PC or Mac and phone for direct and internet communications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and organize oneself
  • Ability to project a positive image of the organization
  • Creative thinker and interest in helping to improve and develop new methods and ideas to accomplish goals
  • Strong interest in nature and the environment. Willingness to participate in creative thinking towards paradigm changing concepts and outreach methods.
  • Internet and design skills, including WordPress, Squarespace, Canva, and others.

Duties and responsibilities may include the following:
