Geographic Services Inc. is seeking an Environmental Assessor at our New Jersey office to support environmental due diligence for commercial real estate.

Ideal candidates have an environmental degree and 2–5 years in the environmental due diligence field with a focus on commercial real estate. The role involves field investigations, document review, data compilation, and coordination with regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Physical, or Biological Sciences or related discipline.
  • Valid Driver License and willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) experience preferred.
  • State regulatory knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, time management and multitasking capabilities.
  • Personable and able to communicate with people at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Field investigations.
  • Document review (environmental, historical, regulatory files).
  • Compile and organize project data (site figures, analytical results).
  • Coordinate tasks with site personnel, regulatory agencies, and team members.
  • Research as required to complete project tasks.
  • Meet deadlines within budget and provide progress updates.

About the Job Offering

GSI is currently seeking anEnvironmental Assessor for our New Jersey office. The ideal applicant will possess an environmental degree from an accreditedinstitutionwith2-5 years experiences in the environmental due diligence fieldwith a focus oncommercial real estate.

EssentialResponsibilitiesand Duties:
  • Field investigations
  • Document review (environmental,historical, regulatory agency files, etc.)
  • Compilation and organization of project specificdata (generate site figures, tabulate analytical results, etc.)
  • Coordinateproject specific tasks with site personnel, regulatory agencies, andteam members
  • Researchas required to complete projecttasks
  • Meet project specific deadlineswithinbudget
  • Otherdutiesas assigned by ProjectManager
AdditionalTasks
  • Plan, communicate, and schedule tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlineswithinbudget
  • Identify project obstacles and present solutions forcompletion
  • Coordinate and deliver progressupdates
  • Compile and assessdata
  • Perform research as applicable to the project (historical records, online resources, etc.)
  • Technical report writing
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies (local, state and federal) to obtain responsiverecords
  • Compile and prepare supportingdocumentation
  • Develop recommendations based on factual evidence that supportsconclusions
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degreefrom accredited institutionin Environmental, Physical, or BiologicalSciences,or a related discipline
  • Valid Driver License, willingness to travel asnecessary
  • Previous experience performing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) preferred
  • State regulatory knowledge a plus
  • Excellent writing, organizational, time management and multi-tasking capabilities
  • Personable and able to communicate with people at alllevels
PreferredQualifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Officeand Adobe Acrobat preferred
  • Knowledge of how to use Google or similar search engine for researchpurposes
  • Experiencewith Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs),Site Investigations and/or Remedial Investigations a plus
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understandEnglish
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and viaemail
  • Must be able to work in a typical officesetting
  • Must be able to effectively perform work outdoors in all types of weatherconditions
  • Specific vision abilities required include reading information on a computer screen, from printed sources and close vision/ability to focus.
  • Job regularly requires sitting, standing, and walking and may require bending, stretching,reachingor crouching. Lifting or moving up to 25lbsmay be required.
  • Salary Range: $52,000.00 - $65,000.00/Year*
  • Medical insurance (health, dental, and vision) - GSI covers 100% of employee's monthly premium (after first 3 months)
  • Simple IRA Plan- GSI Matches 3% (after first three months)
  • Two (2) weeks paid vacation (after first three months)
  • Five (5) paid sick days (start of employment)
  • Three (3) paid personal days (start of employment)
  • Paid Holidays (start of employment)
