Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) is seeking a Jr. Engineer to support fieldwork and remediation project activities in New Jersey.

This entry-level role requires a detail-oriented team player with strong communication, analytical, organizational, problem-solving and time management skills. The position reports to a Principal Engineer and works 50% in the office and 50% in the field within NJ, under supervision of senior staff and field technicians.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support groundwater and vapor treatment system calculations.
• Tabulate and evaluate remediation system data and lab data; assist with reports.

• Assist subcontractor scope of work development and coordination.
• Support cost estimates and proposal efforts.
• Assist with NJDEP permit applications and compliance reports.
• Develop and SOPs (standard operating procedures).
• Coordinate health and safety field observations and documentation.
• Assist with field O&M tasks for remediation systems and data collection.
• Conduct field work including sampling and system maintenance as needed.

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES), an industry leader with a reputation for excellence in providing environmental consulting, engineering, compliance, and technical field services to clients in diverse market sectors, seeks a Jr. Engineer to support fieldwork and environmental remediation project activities in NJ. This is an entry‑level position for a detail‑oriented, team player with strong communication, analytical, organizational, problem solving and time management skills. The Position will report to a Principal Engineer and work under the supervision and mentorship of staff and senior level engineers along with field technicians in a collaborative and safety conscience environment. The Position duties and responsibilities are dynamic from day to day and will generally require 50% office work, 50% field work within New Jersey.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist with groundwater and vapor treatment system engineering calculations
• Assist with remediation system and laboratory data tabulation, evaluation and report preparation
• Assist with materials/equipment/supplies specification and procurement
• Assist with subcontractor scope of work development, coordination and contracting
• Assist with cost estimates and support proposal efforts
• Assist with NJDEP permit applications and compliance reports
• Assist with developing standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Coordinate, participate in and complete Health and Safety related field observations and documentation
• Coordinate field tasks associated with operation and maintenance (O&M) of remediation systems (e.g., data collection, system sampling, system cleaning, carbon replacement)
• Field work including remedial system O&M, pilot testing, remedial in‑situ injections, groundwater sampling, collecting environmental and permit compliance samples, soil excavation, contractor oversight for trenching, piping & system installation
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills & Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Civil)
• 0-1+ years of related environmental consulting experience
• Must be resourceful with excellent communication and writing skills and possess a high degree of initiative and time management skills
• Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T) certification is a plus
• Mechanical aptitude and experience with basic hand tools in a plus
• Field work requires wearing personal protection equipment and working outdoors in all seasons
• Familiarity with Microsoft CoPilot or other AI‑based tools
