Job summary

Burnett Specialists seeks an Environmental & Regulatory Analyst to support onshore operations in the U.S. and Canada with regulatory tracking, reporting, permitting, and compliance activities.

This developmental role emphasizes data management and environmental initiatives while collaborating with Operations, Engineering, Land, and Legal teams. The successful candidate will assist in regulatory filings, learn to interpret evolving requirements, and contribute to training materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in HSE, environmental, oil and gas, or a related industry preferred.
• Knowledge of environmental and regulatory requirements with familiarity to agencies such as TRRC, EPA, TCEQ, BCER, or ABER is a plus.
• General understanding of onshore oil and gas operations and processing equipment.
• Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to learn, interpret, and apply new regulations with appropriate guidance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently as well as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and passport required.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply applicable federal, state, provincial, and local environmental regulations and company requirements.
• Track regulatory and compliance obligations, including reporting, recordkeeping, monitoring, and recurring submissions.
• Prepare and submit regulatory pre-activity notices and post-activity deliverables related to drilling, completions, water, and abandonment.
• Support regulatory filings, permits, compliance programs, inspections, and follow-up activities.
• Provide environmental and regulatory support to internal stakeholders and field operations.
• Participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews to identify regulatory and compliance considerations.
• Collect, review, and report environmental, greenhouse gas (GHG), and sustainability data.
• Track regulatory submission performance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Develop and present training materials with appropriate oversight.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation while meeting deadlines and regulatory requirements.

Environmental and Regulatory Analyst - Contract

We are seeking an Environmental & Regulatory Analyst to support onshore operations in the U.S. and Canada with environmental, regulatory, and compliance requirements. This is a developmental opportunity for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who enjoys learning, solving problems, and working with cross-functional teams. The Analyst will support Environmental & Regulatory professionals with regulatory tracking, reporting, permitting, compliance activities, data management, and environmental initiatives. The role will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Land, Subsurface, Legal, and other business functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply applicable federal, state, provincial, and local environmental regulations and company requirements.
• Track regulatory and compliance obligations, including reporting, recordkeeping, monitoring, and recurring submissions.
• Prepare and submit regulatory pre-activity notices and post-activity deliverables related to drilling, completions, water, and abandonment.
• Support regulatory filings, permits, compliance programs, inspections, and follow-up activities.
• Provide environmental and regulatory support to internal stakeholders and field operations.

U.S. Responsibilities

• Support regulatory data collection and reporting for agencies including TRRC, EPA, TCEQ, and other state and local agencies.
• Assist with TRRC filings, waste reporting, SPCC plans, groundwater conservation district reporting, and flare monitoring.
• Support EPCRA and SARA Tier II reporting requirements.

Canada Responsibilities

• Support environmental and regulatory data collection, recordkeeping, and reporting for applicable federal and provincial requirements.
• Assist with permits, regulatory submissions, compliance tracking, and follow-up activities.
• Coordinate with Canadian asset teams and internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of regulatory deliverables.
