Job summary

CHI Mercy Health Valley City is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain a clean and sanitized hospital environment, protecting patients, staff, and visitors. You will perform routine cleaning tasks, sanitize rooms and common areas, handle biohazard materials safely, and ensure supply management and equipment upkeep.

Responsibilities

  • Floor care: strip, wax, buff, and shampoo carpets as assigned.
  • Sanitize patient rooms, restrooms, and common areas with specialized equipment and chemicals.
  • Biohazard management: safely collect, transport, and dispose of biohazards and sharps.
  • Equipment maintenance: clean, maintain, and store cleaning equipment.
  • Supply management: monitor and replenish dispensers and deliver linens.
  • Safety compliance: conduct regular inspections to meet EH&S standards.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards.

Every day, you will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting. You will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize our facility. This role requires you to learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens.

  • Floor Care: Perform all types of comprehensive floor care, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and shampooing carpets as assigned.
  • Sanitization: Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, and common areas using specialized equipment and chemical solutions to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Biohazard Management: Safely collect, transport, and dispose of biohazardous waste, sharps, and soiled linens in strict accordance with hospital safety protocols.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Properly clean, maintain, and store all cleaning equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Supply Management: Monitor and replenish all dispensers (soap, paper towels, sanitizer) and deliver clean linens to various departments throughout the facility.
  • Safety Compliance: Conduct regular inspections of assigned areas to identify and report maintenance needs, ensuring all environmental health and safety standards are met.
Job Requirements
Preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous Healthcare experience.
