Greenfield is looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator to join our growing team.
The EHS Coordinator for the Shelbyville, Kentucky manufacturing site is a task oriented position responsible for implementing and maintaining Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, with a strong focus on RCRA Large Quantity Generator (LQG) management, day-to-day site activities, risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), leading the site’s Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) process and supporting Process Safety Management (PSM). This role ensures regulatory compliance, supports a safe work environment, and collaborates with site leadership, employees, and third-party vendors to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Who You Are
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety, Engineering, Environmental, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 1-3 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical industry setting with RCRA LQG management experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA (29 CFR), EPA (40 CFR), and RCRA regulations, with exposure to regulatory compliance.
- Experience conducting Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and leading Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs.
- Familiarity with incident investigation and root cause analysis techniques.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage daily tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for training, coaching, and collaboration.
- Ability to work collaboratively with site teams, leadership, and external vendors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Learning Management Systems is a plus.
- Domestic travel up to 5%.
- Certification in OSHA 10- or 30-Hour Training, HAZWOPER, or RCRA training is preferred but not required.
Job Responsibilities
- RCRA LQG Management:
- Oversee the hazardous waste program for Large Quantity Generators (LQG), ensuring compliance with RCRA regulations for proper handling, storage, disposal, and reporting.
- Maintain accurate records for required RCRA reports, coordinating with third-party environmental services as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections of hazardous waste storage areas to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations and facility permits.
- Day-to-Day Site Activities:
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly facility inspections as need or required to ensure compliance with EHS standards, addressing issues related to handling of hazardous materials, housekeeping, equipment safety, and employee practices.
- Support day-to-day EHS operations, including responding to employee safety concerns, coordinating with maintenance teams, and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist in maintaining site-specific plans, including Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Ground Water Protection Plan (GPP), and Spill Prevention Control Countermeasure (SPCC), through regular inspections and record-keeping.
- Risk Assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs):
- Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments for new and existing tasks to identify hazards and implement controls.
- Collaborate with site teams to develop and update safe work procedures based on JHA findings.
- Support Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) as needed, ensuring identified risks are mitigated.
- Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) Leadership:
- Lead the site’s Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) process, including organizing observations, coaching employees on safe behaviors, and analyzing trends to drive safety improvements.
- Facilitate BBS training sessions and promote employee engagement in the program to foster a proactive safety culture.
- Track and report BBS metrics to site leadership, recommending actions to address unsafe behaviors.
- Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA (29 CFR), EPA (40 CFR), FDA, TTB, DOT, and FRA.
- Assist in preparing and submitting regulatory reports (e.g., Tier II, TRI, TSCA) under the guidance of site and corporate leadership.
- Maintain OSHA record-keeping, including OSHA-300 logs and training documentation.
- Process Safety Management:
- Support the implementation and maintenance of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) programs for the Shelbyville site, ensuring compliance with 29 CFR 1910.119.
- Assist in conducting PSM-related activities, such as process safety reviews, management of change (MOC) procedures, and employee participation in PSM initiatives.
- Help maintain PSM documentation, including process safety information, operating procedures, and training records, and support PSM audits and inspections.
Training and Safety Culture:- Deliver EHS training for new hires and existing employees via the company’s Learning Management System and in-person sessions, covering policies, regulations, and BBS principles.
- Participate in the site Safety Committee, assisting with agenda preparation, action-item tracking, and follow-up to promote safety initiatives.
- Incident Investigation and Emergency Preparedness:
- Support incident investigations, conducting root cause analysis and recommending solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Assist in developing and implementing the site’s Emergency Response Plan, participating in routine emergency drills.
- Support emergency response efforts for EHS incidents at the Shelbyville site.
- Program Coordination:
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for environmental monitoring, sampling, and EHS-related services.
- Support the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program, ensuring accurate documentation with third-party vendor assistance.
- Assist in managing the industrial hygiene program, coordinating required sampling.
- Collaborate with People & Culture and Operations staff to support worker’s compensation case management.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in corporate safety committees and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities as needed.
- Support contractor safety management to ensure compliance with site EHS requirements.
- Perform other EHS-related duties as assigned to support site operations.
