Job summary

The City of McAllen is recruiting a Director to lead the Health, Code Compliance & Animal Care Services department. The role directs operations, plans and administers environmental health programs, and enforces city ordinances and Texas health laws to protect public health.

The successful candidate will formulate long-range goals, develop policy and position papers, and engage with the chief administrative officer and elected officials to advance the City's priorities and quality of life.

Job description

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The purpose of this position is to direct the operation of the Health, Code Compliance & Animal Care Services department, planning, conducting, and administration of environmental health programs. Responsible for the enforcement of city ordinances and State of Texas Health laws and regulations; and, prevention and/or control of food borne diseases and communicable diseases. This job formulates long-range goals for the organization, develop policy and position papers and negotiates with the chief administrative officer and/or elected officials.
