Job summary

BDP International in Houston, TX is seeking an Entry Writer to prepare and compile documents required by federal government for discharge of foreign cargo at domestic port, serving as intermediary between importers, carriers, airlines, railroads, trucking companies, pipeline operators, and the United States Customs Service by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisor.

The position involves acting as primary contact for customers, arranging daily customs

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • A college degree is required.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Good communication and organization skills and a strong attention to detail are required.
  • The ability to work on a team is strongly desired.
  • Familiar with customs clearance procedures both in import and export.
  • Knowledge of import and export procedure.
  • Knowledge of customs policy.
  • Good Microsoft Office Skills in Excel and Word.
  • Candidate should have the ability to learn various computer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Implement SOP perfectly to meet customer specific requirement.
  • Work with Coordinator/Documentation in terms of System data entry and checking.
  • Invoice preparing, cost checking and presenting, job checking and closing.
  • Support manager to meet with customer for better communication, efficient cooperation, or removing misunderstandings, etc.
  • Complete other related jobs assigned by the team leader

Job Summary

Physical Capabilities

Position is considered to be sedentary, and no unusual physical requirements are necessary to perform daily tasks. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach with hands and arms, vision abilities, hear, speak and read. The employee is regularly required to use but is not limited to computer, fax machine and phone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
