Job summary

Entech Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Structural Designer to join the Civil and Environmental Resources team in Reading, PA. In a full-time role, you will create precise, constructible designs for municipal water and wastewater projects, collaborating with engineers and architects.

You will assist with working plans, drawings, and 3D models using AutoCAD, Revit, and related tools, while developing your drafting skills under senior guidance and growing with the team.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training in a related field.
  • 0–2 years of engineering design or drafting experience.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD; exposure to 3D design software is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and drafting practices.
  • Proficiency with Windows OS and MS Word/Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing accurate working plans and drawings for municipal water and wastewater projects.
  • Support process diagrams and P&IDs under senior staff.
  • Coordinate with team to obtain technical information and vendor data.
  • Participate in site visits to collect field information and provide support.
  • Maintain organized files and incorporate redlines and QC comments.

Description

Are you a detail-oriented structural design professional with a passion for creating practical, high-quality designs that make an impact? We’re looking for an experienced Structural Designer to join our Civil and Environmental Resources team. In this full-time role, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers and architects to deliver precise, constructible designs for a variety of industrial, municipal, and renovation projects.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful infrastructure and environmental projects, while continuing to grow your technical expertise and leadership skills within a supportive, team-focused environment. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with designing and preparing accurate working plans, charts, scale drawings, and revisions for municipal water and wastewater projects using established engineering drafting methods and AutoCAD
  • Support the development and interpretation of process flow diagrams and P&IDs under the direction of senior designers and engineers
  • Coordinate with project team members to obtain technical information, equipment data, catalog cuts, and vendor information.
  • Participate in site visits to collect field information and provide technical support to the Project Manager and design team
  • Maintain organized project files and incorporate redlines, markups, and quality-control comments accurately and on schedule

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Coursework or internship experience related to municipal water, wastewater, civil infrastructure, or process design.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, GIS, or third-party equipment selection software.
  • Prior experience reading construction drawings or supporting field documentation.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • This position is intended as a developmental design role with regular guidance from experienced designers, engineers, and project
    managers.
  • Assignments increase in complexity as technical proficiency and knowledge of company standards grow.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree in Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent technical training.
  • 0-2 years of professional or internship experience in engineering design, drafting, construction, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD; exposure to 3D design software such as Plant 3D is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings, plans, sections, details, and standard drafting practices.
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based operating systems and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn company standards, workflows, and municipal water/wastewater designpractices.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team, manage multiple assignments, and meet established deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license.
