Job summary

Magna Powertrain is seeking a press operator to join our plant in Michigan. The role involves setting up dies, performing coil changes, maintaining equipment, and producing quality parts per specifications.

You will work with gauges and AS400/barcode systems, with expectations for safe operation and team collaboration. Ideal candidates have 1-2 years in metal stamping/die setting, can read and follow safety rules, and are capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years metal stamping press and die setting experience.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely.
• Ability to use gauges, tooling and other equipment used in die setting.
• Must be able to work required hours.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform coil changes (align the die, steel, feeder, etc.), and secure the equipment.
• Set up peripheral equipment such as guards, conveyors, lubricators, and unloading devices.
• Maintain and complete required paperwork like quality checks and production reporting forms.
• Follow Standard work and participate in improving Standard work.
• Participate in Kaizen workshops to reduce waste and improve safety.
• Ensure safety and quality start-up procedures are followed and parts meet specifications.
• Communicate with team members on machine issues and production reporting.
• Provide on-the-job training for non-cyclic tasks in the press area.
