Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience or completion of a claims trainee program.
• Bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies workers’ compensation coverage of employers and injured employees.
• Determines compensability under workers’ compensation by thorough investigation of the claim.
• Determines causal relationship between injury and incident to ensure proper benefit payments.
• Facilitates return to work for the injured employee.
• Establishes timely reserves based on claim profile and authority.
• Documents details of claims with potential for subrogation recovery.
• Manages medical bills for indemnity and non-indemnity claims tied to the injury.
• Concludes files after resolution to meet performance standards and stay compliant with laws.
• Negotiates settlements with attorneys or injured parties within authority.
• Collaborates with manager on complex files beyond settlement/reserve authority.
• Manages outside vendors to support cost containment.
• Maintains relationships with internal and external customers.
• Keeps up-to-date on workers’ compensation statutes and case law.
