Job summary

The City of Sunrise is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to perform preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance at water and wastewater facilities. You will assist with installation, repair, and routine servicing of pumps, motors, and related equipment in a municipal plant environment.

Must have one year of full-time maintenance experience or status as a City of Sunrise employee, plus a valid Florida CDL with air brakes/tanker endorsements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard tools, methods and practices used in mechanical maintenance.
• Welding, carpentry and related mechanical trades familiarity is preferred.
• Ability to read simple sketches and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installation, maintenance, modification and repair of equipment including pumps and motors.
• Support welders and fabricators; operate drills, torches and grinders as needed.
• Maintain lift/pump station systems and electrical motors; use hand and machine tools.
• Detect and troubleshoot mechanical failures; assist in layout and installation sketches.
• Assist in water/wastewater system maintenance, meter work, and service line repairs.
