Job summary

Felsburg Holt & Ullevig is seeking an entry-level water resources engineer to join our Denver South office. The role focuses on hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater design within transportation and water-resource projects.

The ideal candidate has 0–5 years of experience and a Bachelor's in civil engineering. Master's preferred. Strong skills in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and OpenRoads are desired, with knowledge of CUHP/HEC models advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on water resources.
• 0–2 years of experience in water resources design and stormwater quality design.
• Experience in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer is desired.
• Experience with hydrology and hydraulic modeling software like CUHP, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, CulvertMaster, HY8, FlowMaster, StormCAD, SewerGems, EPA SWMM is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Roadway drainage design including hydrology and hydraulics for projects with roadside ditches, curb and gutter, complex storm sewer design and downstream coordination.
• Stormwater quality and detention design aligned with CDOT and MHFD guidelines and MS4 permit familiarity.
• Bridge and culvert hydraulic analysis and scour protection design for various outfalls.
• Floodplain analysis using HEC-RAS (1D/2D) for permit applications and FEMA LKRs.
• Prepare engineering documents, plans, profiles, details, quantities, costs, reports and specs.
• Support construction projects by reviewing submittals, RFIs, and field visits for compliance.
• Assist in preparing scope, budget, and scheduling for projects and proposals.
