Job summary

The Hattiesburg Water Plant is seeking an entry-level Operating Engineer to operate and maintain two water treatment plants. You will perform routine testing and document results, answer telephones and interact with the public, and dispatch on-call personnel while maintaining an official log.

A training period is provided. After training, responsibilities include grounds maintenance of the plants and performance of routine equipment maintenance; you must obtain Waterworks Operator Certification

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Valid Mississippi driver license required and to be maintained at all times.
• Willingness to obtain Waterworks Operator Certification within five years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain two water treatment plants; perform routine testing and document results.
• Answer telephone, interact with the public, dispatch on-call personnel, and maintain an official log.
• Grounds maintenance of plants, including elevated tanks, wells and remote sites; routine equipment maintenance.
