Job summary

Medford Water is hiring for two positions to join our Meter Team. The entry level Utility Person I will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in construction, repair, and maintenance of water pipelines, and will read meters and support customer service activities.

This role is an entry point into the Water Meter department with opportunities for growth within a four-level series and development in related mechanical and technical tasks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety precautions associated with tasks in water distribution.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to use related software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good physical condition and stamina for manual labor.

Responsibilities

• Repair, install, and maintain water lines, meters, valves, and hydrants as part of a crew.
• Perform heavy manual labor under various weather conditions.
• Read meters for billing and assist in customer service activities.
• Operate heavy equipment and assist in flagging and site safety.

Education

High School or vocational school graduation
