Job summary

Precision Systems, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join the Navy Yard team in Washington, DC.

You will balance office and field work, helping shape DC streets and public spaces through design, analysis, and coordination on high-visibility DDOT projects with mentorship toward PE licensure. You will contribute to traffic studies, intersections, and corridors while supporting pedestrian, cyclist, and transit needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field; transportation focus preferred.
• FE exam passed or ability to pass within 12 months of hire; professional licensure path supported.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• 0-2+ years of experience performing traffic engineering related tasks.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in producing transportation design plans, PS&E packages across disciplines (temporary traffic control, signals, utilities, signing, markings, roadways, lighting).
• Support traffic engineering studies, analysis, and modeling for intersections and corridors with emphasis on pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, and drivers.
• Contribute to urban design and streetscape improvements (protected bike lanes, ADA accessibility).
• Conduct field visits, collect and organize traffic data, assess conditions.
• Prepare technical memos, reports, and presentations meeting client standards.
• Translate technical findings for community members and non-technical audiences.
