Job summary

AMT is seeking an Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation team in Charleston, WV upon graduation in May 2027. This role offers challenging projects, career growth, competitive salary and benefits, with potential involvement in other AMT offices.

You will work on data collection, roadway design tasks, and various plans while gaining exposure to Municipal/State DOT projects. Hybrid schedule and strong work-life balance are emphasized.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited program
• Engineering-in-Training Certification preferred (or ability to obtain in 6–12 months)
• Internship or prior work experience in municipal or State/DOT projects preferred
• Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D and Bentley tools preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel)

Responsibilities

• Support data collection, existing conditions, and alternative analyses for engineering reports
• Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, cross sections, and roadway modeling
• Prepare right-of-way, stormwater, and traffic-related plan drawings
• Assist in erosion, sediment control, and site plans
• Coordinate with project managers and team members
