Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) seeks an Entry-Level Traffic Engineer – 2027 Graduate for our Watertown, MA or Worcester, MA offices. Join the Transportation Planning & Operations group and support a variety of municipal, state, higher education, healthcare, and federal projects.

You will work with transportation planners and engineers on analyses, reporting, and designs, developing multimodal solutions in urban environments and gaining hands-on planning and preliminary engineering experience.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering required.
• 0–1 years of professional transportation planning, engineering, or consulting experience.
• EIT preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD a plus; ArcGIS a plus; Synchro/Vissim a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of professionals to develop traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for urban projects.
• Perform multimodal, safety, active transportation, travel demand, LOS, and transit capacity analyses.
• Research and interpret transportation data, zoning and land use ordinances, and demographics.
• Prepare written planning documents and assemble reports.
• Collect traffic and parking data and tabulate results.
• Develop, analyze, and evaluate traffic improvements; produce conceptual roadway and multimodal designs.

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Watertown, MA or Worcester, MA offices are looking for an Entry-Level Traffic Engineer - 2027 Graduate to join our Transportation Planning & Operations group. The selected candidate will work with a team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public, private and institutional projects within broad cross-section of markets, including municipal, state agencies, higher education, healthcare, federal land and aviation.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of professionals in developing traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects, particularly in urban areas
• Perform various analyses and studies including:
  • Multimodal transportation and traffic impact studies
  • Safety studies and data analysis
  • Active transportation assessments
  • Transportation planning and travel demand analyses
  • Intersection and roadway level of service analyses
  • Transit service capacity analysis
• Research and interpret transportation data, zoning and land use ordinances, community statistics, and demographics
• Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
• Perform traffic and parking data collection and tabulation
• Develop, analyze, and evaluate traffic improvements
• Produce roadway, intersection, and multimodal street designs at a conceptual (preliminary engineering) level

The full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in Massachusetts, is $86,000 to $88,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.

Annual base salary is one component of VHB's Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
