Job summary

Howmet Fastening Systems is seeking an Entry Level Tool Maker in Mauston, WI. You will read blueprints and operate machine tools to manufacture cold heading tooling, set up, adjust, and test dies and tooling.

You will work with cold header operators, engineering and production to support lead time requirements, while following safety procedures and maintaining an organized toolroom. This position offers benefits and on-site growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: 1-2 years of related machining experience, apprenticeship, or internship preferred; willing to train right individual.
• Skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools, blueprint reading, and understanding of tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machine tools such as mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, saws, and hones to fabricate dies and precision parts.
• Read interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD/CAM models to understand specifications and tolerances.
• Measure and verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, and gauge blocks.
• Assemble, adjust, and test completed dies or tooling to confirm they meet quality and performance standards.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Assist in tooling development by creating rough sketches or fabricating hardware based on engineering input.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot issues and suggest design improvements.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of toolroom.
