Job summary

City and County of San Francisco’s SF Environment Department seeks a Green Business Associate to recruit and support small and medium businesses in adopting environmental practices. The role offers exposure to sustainability initiatives across energy, water, waste reduction, and transportation with on-site work and occasional evening/weekend commitments.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree or equivalent education as listed under minimum qualifications.
• Desirable qualifications include customer service, outreach, marketing and effective communication.
• Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
• Understanding of equity, inclusion and diversity concepts.
• Valid California driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Recruit new businesses into the Green Business program through marketing and outreach activities.
• Assist enrolled businesses with evaluations and trainings to achieve Green Business recognition.
• Document environmental practices to track changes and impact of program.
• Maintain relationships with Green Businesses and support certification process.
• Develop and maintain Green Business program standards, toolkits and resources.
• Create content for Green Business website, newsletters and social channels.
• Report on status of certified businesses and environmental savings.
• Help plan Green Business events and assist with other duties.
