Job summary

Prisma Health in Richland (Columbia, SC) seeks a Surgical Technologist to assist in patient care before, during, and after procedures as part of the surgical team. The role covers aseptic techniques, instrument counts, specimen handling, and setup of the OR per Surgeon Preference Card.

No prior experience is required; completion of a Surgical Technology program or ST training is expected. Certifications such as CST/TS-C may be required, with 15 hours of annual ST education if education

Qualifications

• Education — Surgical Technology program or ST training in U.S. Armed Forces.
• Experience — No previous experience required.
• In lieu of education, 15 hours annually of ST continuing education and possible grandfathering under state law.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for procedures by collecting supplies and instruments per Surgeon Preference Card.
• Prepares OR by opening sterile supplies and arranging instruments.
• Assists during procedures, maintains instrument counts, handles specimens and drugs under RN supervision.
• Cleans and resets rooms between cases and at day end; returns unused items to storage.
• Maintains aseptic techniques and corrects breaches.
• Coaches and trains coworkers; supports integration of new team members.
• Completes annual age-specific accountabilities; performs other duties as assigned.
