Job summary

Volunteers of America Oregon is seeking a Counselor I to provide substance use disorder support and group facilitation within our VHB house. You will engage clients, assist with assessments, and contribute to individualized treatment planning under clinical supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CADC I certification within 24 months of registration, and MHACBO registration within 30 days. Travel is possible as part of outreach and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in behavioral health, recovery, or human services preferred.
• CADC I certification must be obtained within 24 months of registering as a CADC I candidate; MHACBO registration within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed substance use disorder support and facilitate structured group sessions under supervision.
• Assist with assessments (ASAM criteria) to support individualized treatment planning.
• Develop and update individualized treatment plans with client input and team collaboration.
• Co-facilitate curriculum-based groups focusing on skills, emotion regulation, relapse prevention, and pro-social behavior.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation reviewed by a supervisor; ensure timely notes and reports.
