Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer for Summer 2027 to launch a career in our Structures group. The position supports transportation-related design in Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, or Atlanta, GA, under supervision of senior staff.

You will assist in field work, prepare plan sets, perform design calculations, and help in construction documents. A strong interest in learning and collaboration is essential for success in our hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred).
  • 0-1 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

  • Participate in the structural design of transit and highway structures from conceptual to final design.
  • Participate in site visits to collect data necessary for preliminary design.
  • Assist in drafting of project details and plans using Microstation, AutoDesk or other CAD software.
  • Preparation of quantity calculations and cost estimate.
  • Assists in preparing contract documents and specifications.

Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

Are you graduating in 2027? VHB is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to launch your career and join our dynamic and growing Structures group in our Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, or Atlanta, GA office.

In this position, under the direction of senior staff, you would support all aspects of transportation related structural design and engineering projects including assisting in field work, preparing plan sets, performing design calculations, detailing, and assisting in the preparation of construction documents.

The full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in North Carolina, is $76,000 to $79,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.

Annual base salary is one component of VHB's Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
