Job summary

VHB is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to jumpstart your career across our Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, or Atlanta, GA offices. You will support transportation-related structural design, assist in fieldwork, and help prepare plans, calculations, and construction documents under senior staff guidance.

You will gain experience with Microstation/AutoCAD, learn design detail practices, and contribute to a dynamic Structures group known for teamwork and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis preferred.
• 0–1 year of structural engineering experience desired.
• Willingness to learn and contribute in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in structural design of transit and highway structures from concept to final design.
• Assist in site visits to collect data for preliminary design.
• Draft project details and plans using Microstation or AutoCAD.
• Prepare quantity calculations and cost estimates.
• Assist in preparing contract documents and specifications.

Overview

Are you graduating in 2027? VHB is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to launch your career and join our dynamic and growing Structures group in our Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, or Atlanta, GA office.

In this position, under the direction of senior staff, you would support all aspects of transportation related structural design and engineering projects including assisting in field work, preparing plan sets, performing design calculations, detailing, and assisting in the preparation of construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the structural design of transit and highway structures from conceptual to final design
• Participate in site visits to collect data necessary for preliminary design
• Assist in drafting of project details and plans using Microstation, AutoDesk or other CAD software
• Preparation of quantity calculations and cost estimate
• Assists in preparing contract documents and specifications

The full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in North Carolina, is $77,000 to $79,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.

Annual base salary is one component of VHB’s Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
