Overview

We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer with design experience in conventional wood framing, masonry, and concrete to support restoration and rehabilitation construction efforts and structural condition assessment assignments nationwide. Projects typically involve single‑family dwellings, multi‑family dwellings, commercial office, retail, and church buildings.

Responsibilities
  • Apply technical knowledge to evaluate existing buildings and design solutions for complex client problems.
  • Conduct investigations and condition assessments to determine appropriate repair of damaged or poorly performing structural systems.
  • Research building history and applicable code upgrades.
  • Complete design assignments related to upgrades, maintenance, and restoration of existing buildings.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, preparing technical condition reports, repair designs, bid documents, addenda, change orders, and other construction documentation.
  • Work with QA/QC to ensure final product meets standards.
  • Establish budgets and schedules; communicate with clients and team members to meet project constraints.
  • Initiate and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.
  • Coordinate field assessments, including work from ladders, lifts, scaffolds, confined spaces, and rooftops.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license required; structural license appreciated.
  • 4+ years of structural design experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; BIM proficiency appreciated.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel in and out of state and occasionally abroad (approximately 20% of assignments).
  • Strong report writing and budget management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; technical writing abilities.
  • Can work independently with good judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Physical ability to perform required site visits: climb ladders, walk on roofs, work from elevated platforms, enter confined spaces, work outdoors in varying weather, lift up to 50 pounds, and use safety equipment.
