Job summary

AECOM's Buildings + Places Structural Engineering team in Roanoke, VA is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join the team. This is a growth opportunity for hands-on experience and mentorship from engineers and PMs.

This team works on a mix of Federal and non-Federal projects across the US and the globe, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural concentration or equivalent.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Master’s degree with Structural concentration preferred.
• Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of design tools and calculation software.
• Strong oral and written communication and client interaction skills.
• Willingness to travel periodically.
• Relevant intern/co-op experience with concrete, steel, or foundations.

Responsibilities

AECOM's Buildings + Places Structural Engineering team in Roanoke, VA is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join the team! This is a wonderful growth opportunity for hands-on experience and mentorship from a team of Engineers and Project Managers. This team works on a mix of Federal and non-Federal projects across the US and the globe. We work on a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office with the team and 2 days remote.

In this role, the Entry-Level Structural Engineer:

• Builds analytic and design skills.
• Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering concentrationor demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
• Master's degreewith a Structural Engineering concentration
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel
• Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with clients in a professional manner
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Available for periodic travel
• Relevant intern/co-op/work experience
• Academic classes, projects or experience through internships or work that includedesign experience with concrete, steel, wood, masonry, and/or foundations
• Exposure to Revit is a plus
