Job summary

Ghafari Associates, LLC is seeking a Summer 2027 New Graduate Structural Designer in Chicago. You will support day-to-day design tasks under supervision and contribute to framing system design and associated analyses for building projects.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Civil/Structural Engineering, may pursue a Master’s, and have internship experience in building design. EIT is preferred, with exposure to Revit, RAM, ETABS, SAP2000 and related tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field required.
Master’s program in field of engineering preferred.
Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred.
Engineer in Training (EIT) License preferred.

Responsibilities

With direction and assistance, formulate design and/or analysis of structural framing systems and perform necessary calculations.
Conduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify existing conditions.
With direction and assistance, prepare construction documents and communicate with other disciplines to produce a well-coordinated set of construction documents.
With direction and assistance, coordinate with other disciplines for clash detection and load determination.
With direction and assistance, review shop-drawing submittals to assure design intent is met.
Maintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items.
Perform related duties as assigned.
