Job summary

OHSU in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician I to perform routine decontamination, assembly, testing and distribution of medical equipment and instruments.

As the first level in a three‑level series, the role offers training toward higher duties and opportunities to contribute to infection control, inventory, and OR turnover.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and one year work experience.
• Preferred: Sterile Processing Course completion or enrollment.
• Two years of hospital, clinic, or medical lab experience with decontamination.
• Two years of materials handling including inventory and stocking perishable supplies.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate instrumentation and equipment according to infection control principles.
• Operate equipment such as cart washers, decontaminators, ultrasonic devices, and scanners.
• Perform routine instrument and equipment quality checks.
• Dispense equipment, restock carts, assist with OR turnover, and manage put-aways.
• Support staff training and orientation for new and rotating personnel.
