Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician III to support our University Hospital operations. The role involves cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments, and assisting staff with instrumentation for procedures.

The position emphasizes mentoring peers and maintaining current sterile processing certifications. The ideal candidate holds 2 national certifications (CRCST/CSPDT/CFER and CST), maintains NBSTSA CST if in a hybrid OR/SPD role, and completes

Qualifications

2 active national certifications (CRCST, CSPDT or CFER) and CST required.
Certification must be current.
24 CE credits annually in the CS field (technical).
NBSTSA CST certification must be kept current for hybrid OR/SPD roles.
Basic Life Support certifications may be required per unit policy.
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is required.
Advanced preceptor and mentoring experience preferred.
Basic computer skills are required.
Endo instrumentation knowledge and maintenance is preferred.
Some healthcare experience is required.

Responsibilities

Cleans, wraps, sterilizes, stores and distributes equipment, supplies, instruments and endoscopes used in patient care.
Assists area clinical staff by preparing for surgical cases with specialized instrumentation knowledge.
Provides guidance to others in assembling instrumentation and preparing case carts.
Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks.
Acts as a resource or mentor to less experienced colleagues.
