Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for Advocate Christ Medical Center's Sterile Processing Services. The role emphasizes decontamination, assembly of instrument sets, and sterilization readiness for terminal sterilization.

Expect to work Monday–Friday with evening hours and occasional weekend coverage. The position requires high school graduation, with preferred but not required Central Service certification, and the ability to lift heavy loads and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent; 1 year experience preferred.
• Certified Central Service Tech preferred, but not required.
• Ability to communicate and follow directions.
• Heavy lifting and long periods of standing required.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates instruments and equipment and prevents cross-contamination.
• Assembles instrument sets and ensures correct items are present for sterilization.
• Operates sterilizers and monitors daily with proper labels and documentation.
• Manages inventory and storage of sterile items; processes requests for supplies and trays.
• Participates in quality improvement and department policies.
