Job summary

Katalyst Space is seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, and operation of spacecraft electrical and avionics systems. You will work directly with power, embedded electronics, sensors, and flight hardware in a lab and flight-ready environment.

The role emphasizes solving complex electrical problems, collaboration across disciplines, and documenting decisions and interfaces for future reuse. ITAR-compliant practices are required in this aerospace setting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on electrical engineering experience through internships, projects, or work.
• Ability to explain technical reasoning from first principles.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, analysis, development, integration, test, and operation of spacecraft electrical and avionics systems.
• Own electrical engineering problems from requirements through schematic design and test.
• Work hands-on with schematics, boards, flight hardware, sensors, and bench equipment.
• Participate in design reviews, board bring-up, hardware builds, and mission-readiness activities.
• Collaborate across mechanical, GNC, propulsion, software, systems, manufacturing, and mission operations.
• Build engineering judgment by comparing calculations, simulations, and data to identify discrepancies.
• Document requirements, interfaces, calculations, analyses, and decisions for review and reuse.
• Progress from supervised tasks to independent circuit-, board-, or subsystem-level responsibility.
• Support mission execution by translating objectives into credible electrical designs and test approaches.
