Job summary

Amentum is seeking Software Engineers to design, develop, and optimize software for US Navy advanced tech programs. Based mainly in Fredericksburg and Dahlgren, VA, with occasional telecommuting and travel.

You will work on GUI development for internal tools, using C++, Java, and C# while employing DevOps tools like Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and Rational Team Concert. Active Secret clearance and travel readiness are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, CS or physics with hands-on experience.
• Active Secret clearance; US citizenship required for clearance.
• Experience across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding, benchmarking, testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Proven ability to plan, perform, and lead software design, coding, and testing efforts.
• Experience in Agile software development environments using Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence) for issue tracking and decision records.
• Proficient with version control tools such as Git or Bitbucket.
• Experience with C++, C#, and Java (preferred).
• Willingness to commute regularly to Fredericksburg and Dahlgren, VA.
• Possession of a valid Real ID driver’s license for site access.

Join Our US Navy Advanced Technology Development Team

Amentum is seeking talented and motivated Software Engineers to join our US Navy Advanced Technology Development Team. In this role, you will design, optimize, and develop software solutions aimed at maximizing performance and efficiency in an R&D-focused environment. This position is primarily based in Fredericksburg and Dahlgren, VA, with opportunities for occasional telecommuting and travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with team members and end-users to design and develop graphical user interfaces (GUIs)for internal tools.
• Create, implement, and enhance software using C++, Rational Team Concert, GitLab, and other DevOps tools.
• Support and actively participate in test events, which may necessitate occasional travel to other locations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics, with relevant hands‑on experience.
• Active Secret‑level US Government Security Clearance (US citizenship is required to maintain clearance).
• Proficiency across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, coding, benchmarking, testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Proven ability to plan, perform, and lead software design, coding, and testing efforts.
• Practical experience working in Agile software development environments using Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with Atlassian products, such as Jira for issue tracking and Confluence for decision tracking.
• Proficient in using version control tools such as Git or Bitbucket.
• Demonstrated experience in C++, C#, and Java (preferred).
• Candidates with hands‑on expertise in object‑oriented programming are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Ability to commute regularly to Fredericksburg and Dahlgren, VA, located approximately 1 hour south of Washington, D.C.

Compensation Details:

$75K to $90K
