Job summary

Amentum's US Navy Advanced Technology Development Team is seeking Software Engineers to design, optimize, and develop software solutions in an R&D-focused environment. This role is based primarily in Fredericksburg and Dahlgren, VA, with occasional telecommuting and travel.

You will work on GUI development, implement software using C++, GitLab, Jira, Confluence, and other DevOps tools, participate in test events, and contribute across the full SDLC in an Agile setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics with hands-on experience.
• Active Secret-level US Government Security Clearance (US citizenship required to maintain).
• Experience across all software development lifecycle phases: requirements, design, coding, benchmarking, testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Proven ability to plan, perform and lead software design, coding, and testing efforts.
• Experience in Agile software development environments using Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for tracking work and decisions.
• Proficiency with Git or Bitbucket for version control.
• Experience in C++, C#, and Java (preferred).
• Hands-on experience in object-oriented programming.
• Willingness to commute to Fredericksburg and Dahlgren, VA (1 hour south of DC).

Join Our US Navy Advanced Technology Development Team

Amentum is seeking talented and motivated Software Engineers to join our US Navy Advanced Technology Development Team. In this role, you will design, optimize, and develop software solutions aimed at maximizing performance and efficiency in an R&D-focused environment. This position is primarily based in Fredericksburg and Dahlgren, VA, with opportunities for occasional telecommuting and travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with team members and end-users to design and develop graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for internal tools.
• Create, implement, and enhance software using C++, Rational Team Concert, GitLab, and other DevOps tools.
• Support and actively participate in test events, which may necessitate occasional travel to other locations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics, with relevant hands-on experience.
• Active Secret-level US Government Security Clearance (US citizenship is required to maintain clearance).
• Proficiency across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, coding, benchmarking, testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Proven ability to plan, perform, and lead software design, coding, and testing efforts.
• Practical experience working in Agile software development environments using Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with Atlassian products, such as Jira for issue tracking and Confluence for decision tracking.
• Proficient in using version control tools such as Git or Bitbucket.
• Demonstrated experience in C++, C#, and Java (preferred).
• Candidates with hands-on expertise in object-oriented programming are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Ability to commute regularly to Fredericksburg and Dahlgren, VA, located approximately 1 hour south of Washington, D.C.
• Possession of a valid Real ID driver's license for site access and reliable personal transportation (rideshare options like Uber/Lyft are not permitted).

Compensation Details

$75K to $90K
