Job summary

General Motors seeks an early-career Data Engineer to join the GM Data Engineering team and help build large-scale data platforms in cloud environments. A bachelor’s degree in software engineering, CS, math, IT or related field is preferred. The role is hybrid with offices in Austin, TX, Warren, MI or Seattle, WA three times per week.

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to offices in Austin, TX, Warren, MI or Seattle, WA three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

The GM Data Engineering team is seeking early career candidates to help build large scale data platforms on cloud environments. The ideal applicants for these roles have a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics, information technology or similar.

What You'll Do

Your Skills & Abilities

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas:Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related degree
• Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge

• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with modern databases
• Basic programming experience in Python, Java, and/or Scala
• Understanding of data modeling concepts and ETL processes
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative environment
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and data engineering platforms (Databricks / Snowflake) and Git and basic Linux/CLI is a plus

Compensation

The salary range for this role is from $84,900 - $130,500. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
