Fitters read blueprints, measure, cut, grind, and tack weld steel structures, bonding hulls and ship components. The role requires 0-1 year related experience and the ability to work in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• 0-1 year of experience related to the following.
• Auto Mechanic or Autobody work.
• Structural iron work (e.g., welding, building structural frameworks, understanding of metals)

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints or plans to place, maneuver, or fabricate steel structures or hulls.
• Use a variety of tools to measure, cut, grind, fit, align and tack weld parts as small as a fingernail to large sub-assemblies.
• Perform tasks in shipyard locations across shops, platens, and on ships to support new construction, repair, and overhauls.
