Job summary

Mead & Hunt is seeking an entry-level Roadway Engineer to join our Transportation team in North Charleston, SC. The role involves developing roadway geometry, using ORD for design modeling, and preparing plans, cost estimates, and specifications for transportation projects.

The ideal candidate will hold a civil engineering degree, have coursework or internship in transportation design, familiarity with ORD, and be pursuing or able to obtain an EIT within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
• EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Transportation design coursework/internship.
• Modeling software (ORD).
• Experience using MS Word, Excel, Project.

Responsibilities

• Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections.
• Roadway Design Modeling using Bentley Open Roads Designer.
• Prepare plans, hearing maps, cost estimates and specifications.
• Identify and apply standards per AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, Highway Safety Manual, etc.
• Assist in analysis, calculations, studies, permits, and designs for projects.
• Attend client meetings and assist in client contact and communications.
• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection.

Mead & Hunt is currently looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Transportation team as an Entry-Level Roadway Engineer.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections
• Roadway Design Modeling using Bentley Open Roads Designer
• Prepare plans, hearing maps, cost estimates and specifications
• Identify and apply or use the standards, guidelines and principals in the AASHTO Green Book, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Highway Safety Manual, and other local and national standards
• Assist in the analysis, preparation, or modification of reports, calculations, studies, permits, and designs for projects
• Attend client meetings and assist in client contact and communications
• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection

A valid driver's license and some travel will be required.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:

• Transportation design coursework/ internship
• Modeling software (ORD)
• EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Experience using MS-Word, Excel, Project
