Job summary

Fairwinds Technologies in Maryland is seeking an entry-level Test Engineer to verify that RF, embedded, and mixed-signal components meet specifications. You will plan tests, configure equipment, collect data, and report results under established procedures.

You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, develop test plans, automate basic routines in Python or MATLAB, and support demonstrations, qualification, and field-support activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Coursework, internship, or project work in test, measurement, or data analysis.
• Understanding of the engineering test lifecycle and reporting.
• Experience with lab instruments and basic data analysis tools.
• Ability to follow procedures and document observations clearly.
• Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Translate requirements into clear test objectives, methods, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop and maintain test plans, cases, procedures, and reports.
• Configure and operate lab equipment, radios, network devices, and embedded systems.
• Execute functional, performance, interoperability, and environmental tests.
• Collect, visualize, and analyze test data for metrics like signal quality, throughput, and stability.
• Use oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and other instruments as needed.
• Create scripts to automate equipment control, data collection, and reporting.
• Document anomalies, reproduce failures, and support root-cause investigations.
• Coordinate test readiness, calibration, and baselines for test articles and interfaces.
