Job summary

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking an entry-level Group Life Counselor I to join a multidisciplinary team in a residential setting. The role involves direct patient contact, admissions assistance, behavior monitoring, and milieu management to support high-risk youth with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health needs.

The position emphasizes documentation, adherence to regulations, and collaboration with counselors, social services, and courts.

Qualifications

• Must have an Associate degree or a high school diploma with at least one year of relevant experience.
• Must pass a TB test at time of hire and annual health screening.
• Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain it.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions; able to write routine reports.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups and communicate with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional standards and follow agency policies and licensing requirements.
• Support treatment team and trainee in developing and implementing patient care plans.
• Monitor patients, log activities, and assist with daily living tasks as needed.
• Prepare progress reports and share with courts, probation departments, and referral sources.
• Provide education and supervision to patients in housekeeping, meals, and daily activities.
