Job summary

Arctic Slope Regional Corporation is seeking an entry-level Refinery Laborer to support the refinery operations in Alaska. You will perform general maintenance, operate basic equipment, assist with maintenance tasks, and participate in safety drills while working Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm with lunch break.

Training will cover refinery hazards and safety procedures; flexibility for overtime and on-call duties may be required as part of a team environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Process technology AA degree preferred.
  • Engineering, mechanical, pipe welding, environmental, instrumentation, refining experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Good math skills required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and master complex ideas and procedures.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Must have Alaska driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • 40-hour Hazwoper certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance of grounds and facilities including sweeping and gardening.
  • Operate forklifts, skid steer, wheeled tractor and other snow/ice removal equipment after proper training.
  • Assist with replacing filters and routine maintenance in the refinery.
  • Load and unload trash, yard debris, lumber, scrap and other items.
  • Set up and move offices, including lifting and transporting furniture and hanging items.
  • Drive company truck to pick up parts and supplies in Fairbanks/North Pole.
  • Assist in general construction and painting as needed.
  • Participate in oil-spill drills and emergencies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area.
  • Perform janitorial duties facility-wide.
  • Assist in weekly/monthly inspections with Operations and Safety.
  • Overtime, including night shifts, weekends/holidays may be required.
  • Receive refinery hazards and safety training.
