Job summary

Guardian Rail is seeking a Railcar Cleaner I in Lynchburg, VA to clean railcar interiors and inspect equipment per FRA, AAR and client requirements. You will read work orders, perform confined-space cleaning, and follow Guardian Rail EHS policies.

The role is full-time, outdoor/indoor, with physical duties and PPE usage. Training will cover safety, QA processes, and job-specific cleaning techniques in a high-demand environment.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and communicate in English at a proficient level.
• Ability to learn and pass job-specific operational exams.
• Maintain records per EHS, QA and cleaning policies.
• Know how to operate cleaning tools and safety equipment.
• Follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail.
• Wear and care for PPE including boots, eye/ear protection and respirators.

Responsibilities

• Interpret work orders to perform interior railcar cleaning per procedures.
• Coordinate cleaning to complete tasks within assigned hours.
• Notify supervisor about materials/equipment needs.
• Work with crew and supervisor in a team environment.
• Follow safety rules and Guardian Rail EHS policies.
• Adhere to QA and client-specific procedures; perform general labor duties.
