Winchester Ammunition in Independence, MO is seeking a Quality Engineer for NGSW equipping to ensure products and manufacturing processes meet quality and regulatory requirements.

The role collaborates across functions to identify risks, resolve quality concerns, and implement improvements throughout the equipping process. It follows a 9/80 schedule and requires travel about 10%.

Formación

Title: Entry Level Quality Engineer - NGSW Equipping

Location: Independence, MO

Salary: $91,100-$116,000 depending on experience level

Schedule: 9/80 schedule

Relocation Available - preference given to local candidates.

Focus: We are seeking a Quality Engineer – NGSW (New Generation Squad Weapon) Equipping to support successful program execution by ensuring products and manufacturing processes meet quality, customer and regulatory requirements. This role will collaborate across functions to identify risks, resolve quality concerns and implement improvements throughout the equipping process.

Quality Engineer Essential Job Functions:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive quality assurance procedures while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Perform regular audits of production processes/products to identify and address any deviations from the standards.
  • Serve as liaison between customer, operations, engineering, and business teams to ensure that products are built and delivered in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Collect and analyze data to prepare detailed reports on quality performance metrics.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, customer, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Lead projects aimed at enhancing product quality and process efficiency.

Quality Engineer Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree* in Engineering
  • Relevant experience in manufacturing preferred. Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (documentation required).

Candidate's with 2 years full time, recent mechanical engineering experience do not require GPA documentation.

  • Experience in quality audits and regulatory compliance; ISO 9001:2015 certification preferred.
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
  • Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and prioritize workload.
  • Willing to travel approximately 10%

Location-Specific Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain or maintain DOD Secret Clearance preferred.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate’s ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
