Job summary

Winchester Ammunition in Independence, Missouri is seeking a Quality Engineer – NGSW Equipping to ensure products and processes meet quality, customer and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate across functions to identify risks, resolve quality concerns and drive improvements in the equipping workflow.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, at least three years of relevant experience, and experience with audits and regulatory compliance.

• Six Sigma certification preferred (Green Belt or Black Belt).
• Strong analytical skills with statistical software experience (Minitab/JMP).

Salary: $104,700 - $157,000 depending on experience level

Schedule: 9/80 schedule

Focus

We are seeking a Quality Engineer – NGSW (New Generation Squad Weapon) Equipping to support successful program execution by ensuring products and manufacturing processes meet quality, customer and regulatory requirements. This role will collaborate across functions to identify risks, resolve quality concerns and implement improvements throughout the equipping process.

Quality Engineer Essential Job Functions

• Create and maintain comprehensive quality assurance procedures while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Perform regular audits of production processes/products to identify and address any deviations from the standards.
• Serve as liaison between customer, operations, engineering, and business teams to ensure that products are built and delivered in accordance with customer specifications.
• Collect and analyze data to prepare detailed reports on quality performance metrics.
• Work closely with engineering, production, customer, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.
• Lead projects aimed at enhancing product quality and process efficiency.

Quality Engineer Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree* in Engineering.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience.
• Experience in quality audits and regulatory compliance; ISO 9001:2015 certification preferred.
• Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
• Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and prioritize workload.
• Willing to travel approximately 10%.

Location-Specific Requirements

• Department of Defense secret security clearance preferred.
• Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
• This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
• This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
