Job summary

Elko County seeks an entry-level Public Safety Dispatcher I to receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS. You will dispatch units, maintain records, and interact with diverse agencies in a high-stress environment.

The role involves shift rotation, training under supervision, and operating NCIC/NCJIS systems with strict confidentiality. A background check and 35 wpm typing test are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of progressively responsible office experience with computers, data entry, or telephone/radio customer service is preferred.
• Experience in a public safety setting and bilingual skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to radio calls from law enforcement and emergency personnel in the field.
• Dispatch emergency units and relay information between field officers and responders.
• Maintain logs, enter calls in local databases, and generate reports as directed.
• Operate equipment and conduct basic maintenance; assist with training when needed.
• Work a 24-hour schedule including rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.
