Job summary

City of Meridian is seeking an entry-level planner to process routine and complex administrative planning applications under supervision. You will assist the public, builders, and small businesses by explaining ordinances and procedures, and conduct GIS-based research to prepare staff reports.

The role includes map creation with ArcView/ArcGIS Pro, data entry in Accela Automation and Project Dox, and collaboration with multiple departments to ensure compliance with LLUPA and the City’s

Qualifications

  • High School diploma plus a minimum of two years of experience in community development and/or planning field or
  • Bachelor's degree in planning or a related field or
  • Equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the job.

Responsibilities

  • Process administrative planning applications and provide information to the public at the front counter.
  • Conduct research and prepare staff reports for development applications including permits and zoning reviews.
  • Create maps and analyze data using GIS software and ArcView/ArcGIS Pro.
  • Coordinate with other agencies to ensure compliance with standards and timelines.
  • Assist in interpreting city policies and provide customer-focused service.
