Job summary

The American Red Cross in Fort Wayne, IN is hiring for a phlebotomy support role with paid training. You will work with donors, help transport and set up equipment at collection sites, and ensure a welcoming environment while collecting lifesaving blood donations.

Starting at $18.20 per hour, the role requires a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, strong customer service, and basic computer skills. The schedule is variable, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required.
• Minimum height of 60 inches to operate Red Cross vehicles.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Take time to personally connect with donors and explain the impact of their donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for donors.
• Be detail oriented to ensure the blood collected meets goals, regulatory requirements and safety standards.
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up and tearing down equipment at donation sites.
• Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to operate Red Cross vehicles.
